General Description
Foods Special medical purposes (FSMPs) are specially processed or formulated foods for the
dietary management of patients and may be used only under medical supervision. Examples of FSMPs are products intended for infants or children with a disease, disorder or medical condition, such as prematurity, low birthweight, cow milk allergy, severe food allergy, gastrointestinal disorders of fat metabolism, and rare metabolic disorders such as galactosemia or inborn errors of metabolism, phenylketonuria, isovaleric acidaemia, and maple syrup urine disease.

Intended use
FSMPs are intended for the exclusive or partial feeding of patients with limited or impaired capacity to take, digest, absorb, excrete or metabolize ordinary foodstuffs or certain nutrients contained therein, or who have other special medically-determined nutrient requirements, whose dietary management cannot be achieved only by modification of the normal diet, by other foods for special dietary uses, or by a combination of the two.

Target population:
Babies and children, from birth to 8 years of age, diagnosed with that need to be treated through modifications in the infant or child’s nutrition, or must have enteral or parenteral feeding for medical reasons.

Technical Specifications
White or pale yellowish powder; free from impurities or coloured particles.
Ingredients: amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins, milk or milk derivatives, fat powders, protein hydrolysates, minerals and trace elements.

Nutritional composition per 100 ml
As per the Codex standard for Standard for Infant formula and Formulas for Special Medicinal Purposes intended for Infants. Codex Stan 72 – 1981.

Directions for use
Follow manufacturer’s instructions on the label before administration.

Shelf life unopened: minimum 12 months from date of manufacture.
