Instructions for use:
The simple pool/block tester is used for testing for Free (Residual) Chlorine in drinking water using DPD 1 tablets, and Phenol Red tablets for determining the pH level.

Combined Chlorine can potentially be determined by adding DPD 3 for Total Chlorine to the sample containing DPD 1 and from the Total result calculate the difference with Free Chlorine. It has to be noted that in case DPD 3 tablets are employed, the user should ensure a proper cleaning of the test cell and lid after each test to avoid false reading of Free Chlorine afterwards (due to DPD 3 generally containing potassium iodide).

Though photometer grade tablets can be used, they need to be crushed. It is recommended to use DPD No. 1 Rapid Dissolving type of tablets (see Consumables references above) with these non-electronic Visual Pool/Block Comparators, for more appropriate/safe and ease of handling.
