Instructions for use:
The simple pool/block tester is used for testing for Free (Residual) Chlorine in drinking water using DPD 1 tablets, and Phenol Red tablets for determining the pH level. Simply dip the test block in the water, add the tablet(s) and read the result from the colour scale.
Combined Chlorine can potentially be determined by adding DPD 3 for Total Chlorine to the sample containing DPD 1 and from the Total result calculate the difference with Free Chlorine. It has to be noted that in case DPD 3 tablets are employed, the user should ensure a proper cleaning of the test cell and lid after each test to avoid false reading of Free Chlorine afterwards (due to DPD 3 generally containing potassium iodide).
Though photometer grade tablets can be used, they need to be crushed. It is recommended to use DPD No. 1 Rapid Dissolving tablets (see Consumables references above) with these non-electronic Visual Pool/Block Comparators, for more appropriate/safe (ease of) handling.
