Technical Specifications:
Chlorine/pH test kit (Colour Disc Comparator Tester) for visual testing of residual chlorine and pH in drinking water.
The comparator is a compact, handy colorimetric unit which is suitable both for mobile and stationary analysis work. It can be supplied with a generous number of different colour scales, and provides the basis for a comprehensive, easy-to-use colorimetric analysis system.

This Comparator kit is supplied with necessary colour discs, reagents etc. for the parameters Chlorine (for determining Free, Total and Combined Chlorine), and pH.

Disc measuring ranges (approximate):
- for Chlorine from 0 to 4.0 mg/l
- for pH from 6.5 to 8.4

The Kit is supplied in appropriate hard plastic case containing the Comparator, reagents for minimum 30 tests of each (i.e. at least with 30 of each DPD No. 1 and 3, and 30 Phenol Red rapid dissolving tablets), the (as necessary) discs, cells, stirring rod and detailed method instructions.

If required, the following items should be ordered separately:
S0000555 - DPD 1 Rapid, for Free Chlorine.
S0000559 - DPD 3 Rapid, for Total/Combined Chlorine.
S0000561 - Phenol Red Rapid, for pH.

In addition to these, a large number of parameters can be tested with the same Comparator unit, provided the adequate starter/test pack (including relevant parameter colour disc, reagent etc.) is selected.

Comments:
The colour Disc Comparator is used for testing for Free (Residual) Chlorine in drinking water using DPD 1 tablets, and Phenol Red tablets for determining the pH level. Simply dip the test block in the water, add the tablet(s) and read the result from the colour scale.

Combined Chlorine can be determined by adding DPD 3 for Total Chlorine to the sample containing DPD 1 and from the Total result calculate the difference with Free Chlorine. It has to be noted that in case DPD 3 tablets are employed, the user should ensure a proper cleaning of the test cell and lid after each test to avoid false reading of Free Chlorine afterwards (due to DPD 3 generally containing potassium iodide).

Multiple additional parameters like e.g. Fluoride can be tested with the same equipment provided the appropriate colour disc and reagents are provisioned.
