General description:
Complete complementary (Add-On or “retrofit”) Solar Pump package, particularly for duo installation in combination with AFRIDEV, EDWP INDIA MK II Extra Deep Well type or similar hand pump type, for maximum 45 metres installation depth.

Complete complementary (or retrofit) Solar Pump package, only for installation in combination with AFRIDEV, EDWP INDIA MK II Extra Deep Well type or similar hand pump type, for maximum 45 metres installation depth.

The purpose of combining the solar system and the handpump is to eliminate hand-pumping in the daytime by the solar system and at the same time give the deserved community an additional water access safety by the handpump for the night and very cloudy days.

The Solar powered electrical Motor Drive (B) or Submersible Borehole Pump System (A) is supplied as a complete kit including relevant complementary handpump accessories, for installation as integrate part of an Extra Deep Well Hand Pump to constitute one combined operating pumping entity.

The complete solar pump and hand pump system shall be able to lift the water to an elevated water tower capable of alimenting several tap-stands by gravity flow (water tower and tap stands are not part of this scope of supply).

The Solar system capacity sizing is based on following basic pumping conditions/requirement:

Q = 7 m3/day
Total head (TMH) = 50 meters (45+5 meters)
The borehole minimum casing inside diameter: 4 inches (100mm)
Insolation data for a Theoretical Location of Installation: Asmara/Eritrea/Africa

A/- If the Solar Powered system is with electrical pump, then it is to be installed on the same bore well using same riser pipes as the hand pump.

B/- If the Solar Powered system is with above ground motor drive, then the pump system is expected to be combined with the hand pump handle, for which operation it shall be powerful enough to operate the hand pump autonomously.

The complementary solar kit includes the necessary components to connect the solar powered system to the hand pump and to adapt the standard extra deep well hand pump to e.g. a forced lift hand pump.

SUBMERSIBLE ELECTRICAL PUMP:
Solar powered electrical submersible pump with the following specifications:
- Suitable for up to 45 m installation depth
- 100mm to 150mm inside dia. bore/tube wells
- Pump size (diameter) expected 3" (OD-76 mm)
- Stainless steel pump and body (304 AISI)
- Rated speed 500 to 3600rpm
- Brushless DC / specially designed AC motor.
- Protection class IP 68.
- Voltage requirement 30-300 volts
- Current range 5-15 amps.
- Dry run protection, Over load protection
- Start method: direct on line

OR ABOVE GROUND MOTOR SYSTEM:
- Manufacturer specific motor to hand pump power transmission
- Equivalent pumping capacity to the submersible pump system.

SOLAR ARRAY:
The solar array is composed of a determined number of Photovoltaic (PV) Solar Panels as Monocrystalline/Multicrystalline photovoltaic cells, laminated in ultraviolet stabilized polymer and fitted in corrosion resistant aluminium frame with high transmission toughened glass cover having antireflection coating.
The solar panels shall be manufactured of sturdy quality to be operational under tropical conditions with extreme temperatures.

Solar panels warranties: The panels shall have not less than 5 years warranty on manufacture, and minimum 10-12 years operation warranty for 90% and 20-25 years warranty for not less than 80% of the original power capacity.

The number and capacity of solar panels will be offered by the bidder as result of sizing conditions e.g. selected panel power capacity, insolation data for destination site and required pumping capacity.

The solar array shall be of sufficient surface and output effect to aliment the electrical solar powered motor arrangement or selected submersible pump to allow the above indicated pumping capacity.

Panel Support:
The system is supplied with either a solar panel support structure for mounting on a water tank top or a pole type Galvanized pipe structure for mounting the solar array. The support structure type shall however be the most appropriate for the panel and total array dimensions.
The support must have tilt adaption capacity to be installed in the most suitable direction and tilt degree to optimize the PV efficiency under the actual geographical installation conditions.
NOTE: Bidders are welcome to offer both structures as options.

ACCESSORIES:
The Solar Pump package also includes the following:

Switch Box/Control Panel and all necessary inter solar panel and other wiring Cables
All other accessories for the solar power system
Drop Cable = 60 meters length. Submersible (Power) Drop Cable of sufficient size to avoid Voltage losses and heating of the submersible pump motor Cable certified for use in drinking water, and for immersion at not less than 3 bars.
Adaption/conversion fittings/valves and accessories for connection of the electrical submersible pump to the hand pump riser pipe/cylinder.
Adaption components for the handpump, as appropriate, such as e.g. third plate, etc., e.g. for forced lift adaption.

NOTE: The Handpump cum Solar Pump system adaption components shall as appropriate be offered as mandatory options for each hand pump type:
SDWP, EDWP, VLOM-50, VLOM-65, AFRIDEV, etc. (unless quotations are identical and can be included in the main offer).

The above-mentioned accessories and potential special tools might be manufacturer dependent, but must be sufficiently complete and appropriate to cover the above specified operational purpose.

Any DEVIATIONS to above requirements, specifications and descriptions must be CLEARLY INDICATED WITH THE OFFER.
